CHASING LIGHT

Project/ Status:
Residential (New Erection), Completed

Location:
Keris Drive, Singapore

Departing from the conventional stacked-floor design with a punctured atrium and skylight as the primary source of light, this house is envisioned as a vessel for light.

The sense of openness is first introduced on the ground floor, where the living, dining, and dry kitchen areas form a cohesive, interconnected space that spans the entire length of the plot. A full-height glass enclosure and double-volume ceiling in this entertainment zone enhance the uninterrupted connection to the lush greenery and views beyond. High above, a centrally positioned open-riser staircase floats, adding a sculptural element to the space.

On the upper private levels, maintaining visual continuity with the outdoors remains a key priority. By relocating the roof garden to the second storey and allowing it to span across levels, the semi-sheltered sky garden serves multiple functions: offering shade to the gym behind, providing visual greenery for the master bedroom, and acting as a natural screen for the master bathroom above.

For some, living in the tropics means experiencing daylight and greenery within the comfort of home. With this house, the design seeks to offer just that.
